Still Life formed in early 2003 when Matt & Paul left their previous band "Going Nowhere" and decided to start a rock covers band. They contacted an old school friend in Mike Tozer to see if he would be interested in coming along and jamming with them but at the time Mike was still playing in "Jurex Jurex" and couldn't really commit to anything else.

A couple of weeks later Mike did phone to say lets get together and see what happens. So they set about rehearsing once a week and after a while they had a few songs completed. While all this was going on Jurex Jurex seemed to be winding down and Mike was putting more time into Still Life. Something was still missing though, Paul had said that he thought that he wasn't good enough to sing live and wanted a proper vocalist to come in so Mike posted an advert on a website and they got a response from Mark Watson who said that he wasn't a vocalist but a lead guitarist and would like to come down and have a jam. Mark did come down one night and knew a few of the songs they had learnt and he certainly added an extra dimension to the band. Afterwards Mark said that he enjoyed himself but wasn't sure if that was the sort of music he wanted to play but he continued to come down and rehearse with them and enjoyed it more and more and without having to say or do anything Mark was a part of the band.

A couple of weeks later Paul still wasn't convinced by his ability to sing and still wanted a voclalist to try out but Mark told him that he thought that he was more than capable of doing it and that was all Paul needed to hear, from then on Paul and Mike shared the vocal duties and still do to this day.

Now the introduction of Dave Cuff was quite simple, he was a friend of Mark's who was interested in sound and light and would like to come along to offer his help, the band accepted and Dave turned up and fitted in straight away.

Over the course of the last 4 years Dave has spent a large amount of money on the P.A and lights that we have had and currently use to this day, he is constantly upgrading the equipment and is very rarely happy with what he has. Hopefully with what Dave has now he can start to spend his money on other things!! Thanks for everything Dave.

And that's the story of Still Life really, the band continue to go from strength to strength and their live shows are one of the best around.
